We are required to adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998 and the requirements of the Financial Services Authority. All data collected is held on secure servers. What data do we collect? By "personal information" we mean data that is unique to an individual, such as a name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number. We will only use the personal information we collect:
We may disclose the personal information we collect only to:
Other information; "cookies" and "tags" You should also be aware that when you visit our websites, we collect certain information that does not identify you personally, but provides us with "usage data," such as the number of visitors we receive or what pages are visited most often. This data helps us to analyse and improve the usefulness of the information we provide at these websites Like most commercial website owners, we may use what is known as "cookie" technology. A "cookie" is an element of data that a website can send to your browser when you link to that website. It is not a computer program and has no ability to read data residing on your computer or instruct it to perform any step or function. By assigning a unique data element to each visitor, the website is able to recognise repeat users, track usage patterns and better serve you when you return to that site. The cookie does not extract other personal information about you, such as your name or address. We may also use what is known as "client-side page tagging", which uses code on each page to write certain information about the page and the visitor to a log when a page is rendered by your web browser. This technique is also commonly used on commercial websites. "Tagging" does result in a JavaScript program running on your computer, but it is limited to providing information about the page that you are requesting and the configuration of your browser. It will not read any of your data files, or execute any additional programs. It does not extract any personal information about you, such as your name or address. You can prevent tagging by disabling JavaScript in your browser, but that may prevent you from using all of our website's functions. Changes to the Privacy Policy If we do change or amend our privacy practices we will notify customers via this site. Our privacy practices will always be easily accessible online throughout the site. To view the Aetna Global Benefits Notice of Privacy Practices, click here http://www.aetnaglobalbenefits.com/privacy.html Website Security Policy We are aware how important online secure trading is to our customers. We have implemented the strictest security protocols available and continually review and update security procedures as new technologies become available. About Secure Socket Layout (SSL) We use Verisign through BT Trustwise. This means that any information you enter into our online forms, such as personal details to obtain a quote, is automatically protected using Secure Socket Layout (SSL). When you are browsing on a genuine SSL server, you will see a small padlock icon at the bottom of your browser. You can view the Security Certificate by double clicking on the padlock. It is always worth doing this to check that the certificate hasn't expired. Your computer enters the secure area of the site and creates an encrypted link between your computer and our server. This encrypts all information passed between the two computers, preventing anyone else from reading or changing the information as it travels through the internet. How to help keep your data safe We need your help to make sure that information about you is kept as safe and secure as it can be. Passwords To ensure that you are the only person who can access your data you will be required to create both a unique security word and password as well as a user name ("Passwords"). To further help with security we ask you to select your own security word and password. We recommend that you use at least one number in the password. You are responsible for the security and proper use of all these Passwords. Keep the passwords confidential, make sure you are not being overlooked when you are logging in. Never give your passwords to unauthorised people. You must inform us immediately if you have any reason to believe that any Password has become known to someone not authorised to use it or if any Password is being or is likely to be used in an unauthorised way. If we have reason to believe that there is a likely breach of security or misuse of the Online Policy Booking system we may change any or all of your Passwords immediately and will notify you accordingly. If you forget any Password, by contacting our Call Centre by telephone and satisfying the security checks we operate, you will be given a new Password to enable you to use the Service. You may change your Passwords and registration details on-line at any time. Other tips to help protect your personal data
